Your scalp is Snowing?
Dandruff and itchy scalp…

I think many people feel it especially strongly during this summer.

There are many causes of dandruff and itchy scalp, but it is also very frightening and can lead to hair loss and thinning if left untreated.

I am also one of those who fight dandruff and itchy scalp.
In my case, I was told by a dermatologist that I probably have Seborrheic dermatitis.

I would like to tell you what the Comclo shampoo I was prescribed is all about.

My symptoms

What is Seborrheic dermatitis?

It is a dermatitis with itching, red eczema, and dandruff on areas that secrete a lot of sebum. Besides the scalp, some people seem to get it on the back of the ears, armpits, nose, etc., where sebum secretion is high.
It is said to occur most often in infants and adults between the ages of 30 and 70, but as I am 24 years old, it is possible to occur at any age.

It is also said that the cause is mold.

In my case, I had a very itchy head, dandruff that would not stop even after washing my hair, very heavy hair loss (not sure if this was caused by the disease or not), and inflammation of the scalp.

How to use

The next section describes how to use Comclo shampoo.
*Please note that the method of use is very different from the shampoo you normally use!

1. Take the required amount of Comclo shampoo on your hands (approx. 3 500 yen coins).

2. Apply Comclo shampoo to the center of the affected area on a dry scalp.

3. Apply the affected area and wait for 15 minutes.

4. Pour hot or cold water over the affected area and lather gently and thoroughly without touching your fingernails.

5. Rinse the scalp, hands, and entire body thoroughly to ensure that no residual medication is left.

Feelings of actual use

First of all, I have a very leisurely 15 minutes after applying it to my scalp. In my case, I apply shampoo to my scalp with my top off and spend 15 minutes outside before going into the bathroom.

In addition, the instructions I received from the hospital stated that the standard amount of shampoo was equivalent to three 500-yen coins, but perhaps because my head is rather large, that was not enough.

When I applied the shampoo it was just sticky, but when I applied hot water it foamed better than I expected.
I felt refreshed after use.

How to get it

Doctor's photo

Basically, it is not available without a prescription from a doctor at a hospital in Japan.
There are some pharmacies in some places where you can buy it without a prescription, but we recommend that you use it under a doctor’s judgment!

If you go to a dermatologist and say, ‘I have an itchy, red head,’ or ‘I can’t stop itching and dandruff,’ or ‘I heard there is a new shampoo medicine that was recently developed,’ they will give it to you!

Incidentally, when I received my prescription, the co-pay was 1,100 yen per bottle!

Summery

In this issue, I talked about an itchy head.

It is said that as many as one in six people suffer from scalp problems, and some may be unable to talk to anyone about it and may be suffering from it, or may leave it untreated.

However, depending on the cause of the itchiness, there is a possibility that it will lead to increased hair loss and further deterioration of the scalp environment.

If you notice any abnormality, we recommend that you promptly see a local dermatologist!
