Hello hello, I am Young Bald Boss!
Following up on my previous post, I would like to share with you my progress in the latter half of the first week (days 5-7) after the surgery!
Just to recap again, I had a hair transplant surgery of 1,500 Grafts at the Island Tower Clinic in Osaka on Thursday, August 29, 2024, about a week ago.
If you are concerned about my condition before or on the day of surgery, please take a look at this article!
Hair Transplant Diary with Photos – Day 0
I will now show you the changes on days 5~7!
Photos of changes on days 5-7
Photos of the progress of the right frontal
Photos of the progress of the left frontal
Am I the only one who feels the redness is gone?
The left frontal area, which was still slightly reddish on the 5th day, had completely disappeared by the 7th day!
By the way, the black things you can see in some places are probably blood spots.
I think it will probably fall off with the removal of the scab.
Medications
Medications and supplements I’ve taken
In my last article I introduced you to the medications I take.
If you would like to know more details, please refer to this page!
Hair Transplant Diary with Photos – Day 2~4
I finished taking the 500 mg Cravit tablet prescribed by the clinic on the fifth day, and as for the 500 mg Kalonal, I have not taken any since the first day after the surgery because there is no particular swelling or pain.
So the only medication I am currently taking is Duman 0.5mg which I ordered from a private importer!
In addition to Duman, from day 5, I also started taking zinc supplements, which are considered good for hair growth at my personal discretion.
Below is a detailed summary of the medications and supplements I am currently taking!
*Although quoted from official websites and other sources, please be sure to consult with your physician before taking any of these medications!
Duman 0.5 mg (male pattern baldness treatment)
It contains the same active ingredient, dutasteride, as Zagallo capsules. It is a medication that prevents hair thinning in men with male pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia).
■Side effect
Sexual dysfunction (decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation problems)Liver dysfunction, jaundice, and other symptoms may occur.
■Usage and Precautions
The usual oral dosage for male adults is 0.1 mg (0.2 tablets) of dutasteride once daily. If necessary, 0.5 mg (1 tablet) may be orally administered once daily.
Zinc, Maca, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6
Two capsules contain 14 mg of zinc, maca extract powder, and vitamins B1 and B6.
In addition, arginine and ornithine can be taken together.
Recommended for those who want to live a vigorous daily life.
■Ingredients
Maltitol (manufactured in Japan), L-ornithine hydrochloride, maca extract powder/zinc gluconate, L-arginine L-glutamate, Ca silicate, cellulose, Ca stearate, V.B6, shellac, V.B1, glue (pullulan)

Take 2 capsules per day with water or hot water.
I take one of these Duman 0.5mg tablets and two zinc supplements daily before bedtime.
Progress Details
Day 5: Symptoms
Symptoms
The itching that was present until yesterday is almost gone.
Also, the redness on the right frontal area has almost disappeared.
There is no pain at all at the hair transplant site. However, I do feel some discomfort as if a thin film is being stretched over the area.
The hair sheet on the back of my head feels pain when I put my head on the pillow when I sleep, as if the string or something at the joint is digging into my scalp.
Day 6: Symptoms
Symptoms
As you can see from the pictures, the redness is almost gone.
There is no pain or itching at the hair transplant site. I still feel some discomfort.
Also, I have a little dandruff, as if I am not washing my scalp well enough.
The pain at the hair sheet joint at the back of my head is a little stronger than yesterday. (It is totally bearable.)
It is also itchy.
Also, I can’t see it, but it feels like a pimple is forming on the donor area on the back of my head.
Day 7: Symptoms
Symptoms
From this day (day 7), I was able to wash the hair transplant area as well!
The hair transplant area also needs to be washed by massaging it with my fingers to peel off the scab over the next couple of days, but I couldn’t peel it off much today… (-. -)
Also, when I touched the hair transplant area, it felt like my hair has grown like a beard.
There is no pain when I touch it.
The hair sheet on the back of the head still causes some pain around the junction of the sheet and the hair when sleeping.
Also, there is an itching sensation on the head under the sheet.
I am scheduled to have my hair sheet adjusted once on 9/19, about 10 days from today, and I can’t wait to get it off.
The hair sheet is basically sewn in such a way that it cannot be removed by myself, so I have to go to the beauty salon affiliated with the clinic to have it removed!
Changes in post-transplant care
How to wash hair from day 7
From the 7th day, the way I wash my hair will change!
Until the 6th day, the hair transplant area was not allowed to be washed directly, but now I can basically wash my hair as normal.
According to the clinic’s instructions, the scabs seem to start coming off gradually after the 7th day, but in my case, they still didn’t come off very well.
However, it is said that scabs become unsanitary if left as they are, so they must be removed over a period of two or three days.
If it is difficult to remove the scab, it is said that it is better to apply a wet towel to the scab before showering and then wash my hair.
Summary
Reflecting on the past this week
When I look at them side by side like this and compare them, it has changed a lot in the past week.
In the first half of the first week after the surgery, I was very nervous and somewhat stressed, thinking things like, “Never scratch it even if it itches,” “Don’t let other people bump into it,” “Don’t bump into anything,” and so on.
However, in the second half of the week, I was able to live without feeling too much stress, probably because I got used to it.
In my case, I am still a college student and have no classes and no plans with friends for the month, so one of the stress-reducing factors may be that I don’t have to worry about people around me finding out.
Also, some websites say that it is possible for working people to hide their hair so that they will not be noticed even if they return to work one week after the surgery, but in my case, to be honest, I still feel that I will be noticed!
However, I think there are individual differences depending on the hair transplant location, surgical technique, etc.
I will also be reporting on the progress of the hair, including pictures of the hair with the hair down, to see if it is still visible in public, which may be of concern to some of you!
Thank you very much for reading to the end! ☺
