The time has finally come for me to write this article…
The content of this article is what I want to share with you the most!!

I have had M-shaped baldness for about 5 years now, and even right before I recently had a hair transplant surgery, my friends around me rarely found out I was bald!

In this article, I would like to explain how I could hide my baldness so far.

If you are one of our readers who suffer from M-shaped baldness, you can try it tomorrow if you have a certain item. It will be the following items!

Secret Weapon: What is Sori-Commit(そりコミット)?

Sori-Commit Details

I was able to keep my friends from finding out I was bald for about 5 years because I used an item called “Sori-Commit”.

This is a so-called “wig sheet” for the M-shape and has been my favorite item since three years ago when my hairstyle could no longer conceal my M-shaped baldness.
All you have to do is (1) cut the accompanying hair sheet in line with your M-shaped hairline, (2) attach it to the “M-shaped baldness (called Sorikomi in Japan)” area with the accompanying double-sided medical tape, and (3) cut the hair on the hair sheet so that it blends in with your own hair.

Photos of actual use

All photos are of my head.
BEFORE is before the Sori-Commit installation and AFTER is after the Sori-Commit installation.
They are taken about 1.5 years, 1 year, and 1 week before the hair transplant surgery date, respectively.
(My hairline is thinning as I get closer to the surgery date 😢)

What do you think?
Some of the pictures may be hard to understand because of the different angles, but if you just look at the AFTER pictures using Sori-Commit, no one would think I have an M-shaped bald spot!

As shown in the photo, the sori-commit was applied to the thinning M-shaped area to increase the sense of hair volume and fill the originally bald and vacant split bangs.

Impressions of use

If you go to the Sori-Commit product page, you can read about the various benefits of Sori-Commit.
However, here I will give you my honest impression of how I felt after using the product, including the good points and the points that bothered me!
*This is just my subjective impression based on my product use.

■Good points
・It really hides M-shaped baldness very naturally.
・It is very natural and blends in well with my hair, probably because of the high-quality human hair.
It is not a problem with a little bit of wind.
・It is supposed to be consumable, but if you use it carefully, you can use it for a very long time. (The first sheet on the left lasted about a year and a half.)
The hair sheets are designed to look natural, even when you put your hair up.
It did not come off with light exercise or sweat.
It did not come off even when I rode a roller coaster.

■Points of concern
・Some people feel that the price is a little high, about 15,000 yen(=About 100 USD) per set. (I thought it was cheap if I could hide my baldness for a little over 1,000 yen a month.)
It is a hassle to put it on and take it off when traveling with friends so as not to be noticed.
・After less than a year of use, the sheet portion of the hair sheet began to yellow.
→I could only wear my hair in a way that hid the sheet part because it looked yellowish when I put it on.
I had to keep my bangs about the same length all year round in order to blend in the soli-commit.
When wet, it looked unnatural.

Also, in my case, I have frizzy bangs, and just wearing them did not blend in with my frizzy hair for a non-frizzy sori-commit, and it felt uncomfortable.

In the next section, I will show you my actual method of how to fit in naturally if you have frizzy bangs like I do!

How to wear it for those who have frizzy bangs

How to wear it for those who have frizzy bangs

Hair dried with a hair dryer

➀ After showering, dry hair.
(At this point, the bangs are much wavier and there is a gap in the M-shaped area.)

Sori-commit cut for installation

② Prepare sori-commit with double-sided tape attached for both the right and left sides.

③ Raise the bangs and attach the sori-commit to the M-shaped area.

④ Let down your own bangs and fasten them straight with hairpins along with the sori-commit.

⑤ Attach the sori-commit in the same way on the other side and fasten with bangs and hairpins.

Finished state with hairpins removed

⑥ After waiting at least a couple of minutes, remove the pins and let the bangs fall down to loosen them.

This is the method I used to apply it to my frizzy hair!
The point is to apply the sori-commit while your hair is still warm at the moment you dry it with a hairdryer and fasten it with hairpins to firmly straighten the frizzy hair in the process of removing the heat from your hair.
In the summer, when my hair was still in a strong habit due to humidity, I used hairspray to harden it or applied a non-sticky type of hair oil to my hair before attaching it!

Maintenance and Care

How to wash sori-commit

This section describes how to maintain and care for your Sori-comit!
*Please understand that this is just my own method and not necessarily the correct way!

I wore my soli-commit from before I left the house on the day I went out until I got home.
I basically took it off when I got home and washed it every day or two.

Washing is simple; just remove the medical double-sided tape and wash with shampoo.
Also, when drying, simply comb it dry with a hair dryer.

After using it for a long time, the color would fade and turn brown, so I used commercial hair coloring to dye it black again.

Summery

I have been talking about “Hiding M-Shaped Baldness Using Sori-Commit”.

This may sound like an exaggeration to you readers, but this item has helped me immensely during these college days.
If it were not for this item, I would not have been able to enjoy my campus life, such as driving with my circle mates or going on a date with my girlfriend, without being too conscious of my baldness.

I often hear people say things like, “It doesn’t matter if you are bald or not,” or “What matters is what’s on the inside,” but as someone who was involved in this situation, such words did not really resonate with me.
If my family or friends had gone bald, I might have said the same thing to them, but I couldn’t help thinking, “It’s embarrassing to be bald even though I am still in college,” “I don’t want people to find out,” and “I don’t want people to think I’m bald even if I die. I couldn’t suppress these thoughts.

Compared to hair transplants and AGA treatment, the methods introduced here are relatively easy to start, both financially and in terms of timing.
It saved my life as a college student.
Of course, I am not saying that absolutely everyone should try this method, but I would be happy if I could help those who are suffering from “baldness” to expand their options even a little.

Thank you very much for reading this long article to the end☺.
